Top Ten Main Dishes -- Amy's Pizza Dough

Oh..... I can't believe I'm sharing my pizza dough recipe. After years of looking for my signature homemade pizza, I think it's pretty close to perfect, and it's fast too!

Spring break-a-thon has already come and gone here in southeast Texas. We all played way too hard, now back into the swing of things.
Amy's Pizza Dough
makes 2 pizza crusts

Ingredients:

2 1/2 cups flour (all white is GREAT, but 1/2 wheat 1/2 white is what I normally make)
2 tablespoons sugar
2 1/4 teaspoon fast rising yeast
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup very warm water (120 to 130 degrees)
2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Directions:

In the bowl of a electric mixer fitted with the dough hook, combine 1 cup flour (white), sugar, undissolved yeast, and salt; blend well. Gradually add water and oil to mixture. Blend at low speed until moistened, scrape sides and incorporate. Mix at medium speed for 2 minutes. Add 1 1/2 cups four until dough pulls away from sides of bowl. On floured surface, knead in 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup flour until dough is smooth and not sticky. Cover loosely with plastic and let rest in a warm place for about 15 minutes.

Divide dough in half, and press each onto a greased pizza pan. Let rest again in a warm place for 15 minutes. Prick randomly with fork. Prepare pizza as desired. When pizza is topped bake at 450 degrees for 9- 10 minutes.

  2. I usually make a margarita pizza-- favorite pasta sauce, fresh basil, mozzarella cheese, roma tomatoes (gently squeeze all the juice out first, then slice). Yummy!! I also love chicken BBQ pizza too!
